The newest edition of Knitty has just gone live, and I'm so excited to share Julie's newest design in TFA yarn: Velvet Morning!
The pattern features Green Label Aran weight, and Julie's version has Midnight as the base colour, and three contrasting colours: Sand, Mallard, and Atlantic. My light grey version features the base colour Sand, and the contrasting colours are Lilac, Plum and Dove. It's really neat to see the contrast of how it looks as a dark blue sweater and as a light grey sweater- and it looks great both ways.
It was so much fun to test knit the Sand version, the colours are amazing (Julie was inspired by eye shadow palettes when she came up with this colour combo, isn't that brilliant?) I've worn it so much already. It's just a great comfy, cozy cardigan, the kind that I love to grab on chilly mornings. Great job Julie!
We took these photo's on a warm but rainy day in August! I spent a lot of time trying to tame my ever frizzing hair and keep the wind from blowing it in my face, we ended up with a lot of shots like this:
I kind of like it!

This is my favourite version! Love the neutral colour as the background. I could also see this knit without the colour work too. Such a comfy looking cardi.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful pattern, and the color combinations are great! I am planning on using my first Tanis yarn by the end of the year! I found a hat and scarf pattern that are perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteMy head of curly hair finds your "frizz" concerns extremely funny ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely cardi! I've half a mind to cast on for one myself...errr, once I've got a few necessary things off the needles, that is!
I love the colourway!! It's amazing hwo0 different it looks in the lighter version, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteColors (as always) look gorgeous together. Your model shot is awesome :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is very beautiful. It was my favorite in the new knitty, I think. Or at least the one I wanted to make the most. But I don't want to use just any old yarn, so I'm going to have to save up ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and I love both color combinations.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeously cozy cardigan. I love the name and seeing both your light version and Julie's dark one. I would wear that cardi all the time, too.

ReplyDeleteThis cardigan is beautiful! I wish I had the time to knit it. I can't wait for the Knitty give away of the kit!
ReplyDeleteI love this version! Do you think someone who would call themselves a beginner in colourwork could do this without too much tears?
ReplyDeleteI am pretty determined when I set my mind to something!no
